One of the most widespread myths about the health risks of sugar has been identified.
E-saglam.az reports that dietitian Dawn Manning stated that there is no need to completely give up sugar to stay healthy. She discussed this in an interview with The Guardian newspaper.
The expert explained that reducing sugar intake is indeed beneficial. This is because glucose places an additional burden on the pancreas, can lead to weight gain, and negatively affects cardiovascular health. Fructose is also not entirely harmless, as it is easily stored as fat and places an additional burden on the liver.
Dawn Manning noted that the effect of sugar varies from person to person. In some individuals, sugar consumption can lead to negative consequences more quickly, while in others, this effect is felt less strongly. This is related to the individual characteristics of the body.
According to her, completely removing sugar from our lives to be healthy is not the right approach. Many bloggers recommend keeping blood glucose levels constantly stable, but this is not considered scientifically fully substantiated. This is because a rise in glucose is the body's normal reaction to food intake.
The expert also stated that there is no need to fear the micro-inflammations caused by sugar. If the body is not under excessive stress, it can handle such mild inflammatory reactions on its own.
Dawn Manning recommends limiting the consumption of sweets and consuming them after a main meal, not on an empty stomach. In this case, the negative impact of sugar on the body is significantly reduced, and balanced nutrition is more easily achieved.
