Recently, the number of reported disruptions with the WhatsApp messenger in Russia has increased. According to Roskomnadzor, the agency is continuing to implement restrictions against the platform. This was reported by the TASS agency, citing the agency's press service.
The editorial office reports that on December 21-22, users from Russia began to report mass problems with WhatsApp more frequently. According to the "Sboy.RF" platform, by 5:00 PM on December 22, more than 3.5 thousand complaints had been registered. Roskomnadzor stated that the foreign platform continues to violate Russian legislation, and therefore measures are being taken against the service.
In its statement, the agency claims that WhatsApp is used for organizing terrorist activities, recruiting perpetrators, as well as for fraud and other crimes. Roskomnadzor added that if the legislative requirements are not met, the messenger could be completely blocked. It should be noted that restrictions against WhatsApp began to be implemented from August 2025, with warnings of partial blocking and complete restriction made in subsequent months.
