Although the test program conducted for Russian-made Baikal-M processors was evaluated as successful, the project was not continued. The shortage of crystals required for the processor to go into mass production resulted in the project's closure.
The editorial office, citing information disseminated on the topic, reports that although large-scale production of Baikal-M chips was planned over the last three years, the necessary technological base and component supply were not possible. Therefore, the project has been officially suspended.
Experts state that the Baikal-M processor showed generally positive results during the testing phase and was evaluated as "a step forward" in terms of local technology development. However, the closure of the project has made the continuation of that progress impossible. As they say, "one step forward, two steps back."
