What is Putin's peace proposal for Ukraine?

Russian President Vladimir Putin has unveiled a peace plan concerning Ukraine.

The editorial office, citing Reuters, reports that according to the proposal, Moscow is ready to return the small territories it controls in the Kharkiv and Sumy regions. In return, Ukraine must completely abandon Donetsk and Luhansk, and Russia must halt its advance in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.

Putin also demands official recognition of Russia's sovereignty over Crimea. Regarding NATO, Ukraine is prohibited from joining the alliance, but alternative “security guarantees” are envisaged.

Russia additionally demands the partial lifting of sanctions, the granting of official status to the Russian language, and the recognition of the Russian Orthodox Church's freedom to operate.
