Russian President Vladimir Putin jokingly called Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov an “imperialist.” This remark came after US Senator Marco Rubio complimented Lavrov's sweater, which had “USSR” written on it.
The editorial office reports that during the meeting, Rubio's humorous remarks made Putin laugh as well. The head of state added humor to the conversation by addressing Lavrov with the term “imperialist.”
It should be recalled that Soviet symbols are often found on the clothing and symbols of Russian officials. This is not unequivocally received in Western countries and is often regarded as a political message.
