Putin Not Yet Ready for Peace Deal

The results of the latest Ukraine negotiations show that Russian President Vladimir Putin is not yet ready to sign a peace agreement. US Special Representative Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump's advisor and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, participated in the five-hour meeting in Moscow. Kremlin foreign policy advisor Yuri Ushakov stated that "no compromise version has yet been found."

The editorial reports, citing the BBC, that Putin called the Ukrainian leadership a "thieving junta," accused European leaders of undermining peace initiatives, and emphasized that Russia holds the initiative on the battlefield. His stance suggests the Kremlin leader believes he is winning the war and it is not yet time to stop.

At the same time, it is reported that Russia's resources needed to continue the war are running out. Putin's acknowledgment of some economic problems and his note on reduced production indicate that the economic situation may influence the Kremlin's future military decisions.
