President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, and family members participated in the opening of Islam Safarli Street, which covers the Sabail and Yasamal districts of Baku city, after its reconstruction on May 1.

Head of Baku City Executive Power Eldar Azizov informed the head of state and the First Lady about the work done.

It was reported that the area along Islam Safarli Street, starting from Azerbaijan Avenue and including a part of Nigar Rafibayli Street, up to Mirzaagha Aliyev Street, has been fully landscaped. A passage has been provided from this area for the convenient movement of pedestrians to Central Park.

Landscaping work has also been carried out on 8 streets intersecting Islam Safarli Street, as well as in the section extending to Tabriz Khalilbayli and Mirza Ibrahimov streets. The total length of the landscaped streets is 1350 meters. Water and sewage lines in these streets have been completely renewed, and gas lines have been replaced with an underground system. In addition, reconstruction and restoration work has been carried out on buildings of various purposes located on the streets, necessary conditions have been created for the recreation of residents and guests of our city, benches have been installed, and extensive landscaping work has been implemented.

The implementation of the project creates direct access for pedestrians from Fountains Square to Winter Park. There are also architectural monuments of local importance built here in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This further increases the attractiveness of the area for both local residents and guests.

The replacement of roadways with pedestrian paths will positively impact the activities of shops, cafes, and restaurants in the area, creating new opportunities for small businesses.

It should be noted that today our capital has become one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Consistent measures have been taken to modernize Baku's social infrastructure and ensure the comfort of residents and city guests, and these projects are currently ongoing. It is no coincidence that guests visiting our capital always emphasize their admiration for the city's beauty and cleanliness. The successful implementation of micromobility solutions, which are an integral part of the steps taken in Baku in line with modern urban planning trends, and the replacement of roadways with pedestrian paths serve the comfort of both residents and tourists. The implementation of such projects in densely populated areas also contributes to the urban planning-oriented strategies carried out recently. Thus, these steps, which are an important element of the capital's sustainable development strategy, play a special role in Baku's development as both a modern and pedestrian-friendly city.
