Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated during his visit to Turkey that Turkey's role in protecting Europe from the south is crucial. He emphasized that without this defense, life in Hungary and Europe as a whole would inevitably become significantly more difficult.
The editorial reports that Orbán noted Turkey's special contribution to border control in preventing illegal migration. According to him, without this control, Europe would be "drowned in a flood of illegal migration."
Orbán added that cooperation with Ankara is an important part of Europe's security architecture, and the continuation of this cooperation directly impacts the maintenance of regional stability. He also stressed that Hungary is interested in strengthening relations with Turkey.
