The annual report of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) will not be reviewed at a parliamentary committee meeting.
Information about this was provided by the Ombudsman's Office.
This is reflected in the proposed amendment to the law "On the Committees of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan," which was discussed at today's meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee on Legal Policy and State Building.
It was noted that, taking into account the constitutional status of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, it is proposed that his annual report be reviewed directly at a meeting of the Milli Majlis, rather than at a committee meeting. In other words, the parliamentary Human Rights Committee will no longer provide an opinion on the Ombudsman's report.
