Novruz Mammadov, who was long represented in Azerbaijan's political elite, served as Ramiz Mehdiyev's deputy in the Presidential Administration for 5 years, and also as head of the Presidential Administration's Foreign Relations Department for 20 years, and for some time held the post of Prime Minister, has lost another job.
The Press Service of the Azerbaijan University of Languages, in response to an inquiry from Modern.az, stated that Novruz Mammadov ceased his activity as a teacher at this higher education institution some time ago. It was reported that N. Mammadov resigned from his position with his own application.
To date, 7 of his books, as well as 7 publications he led and was editor-in-chief of, and 3 translated works have been published. The former official is also the author of more than 150 articles on scientific, social, and political topics.
It should be recalled that N. Mammadov, who was Azerbaijan's 9th Prime Minister, resigned with his own application 6 months after being appointed to the post.
On November 19, 2019, N. Mammadov was appointed Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation at the Azerbaijan University of Languages. In May 2024, he was relieved of this position.
According to sources close to N. Mammadov, it is impossible for him to work due to serious health problems.
