The Head of Neftçala District Executive Power held a mobile meeting with residents of Yenikənd village.
The citizen reception was attended by Mirhasan Seyidov, Head of Neftçala District Executive Power, responsible officials of the Executive Power, heads of law enforcement agencies, departments, enterprises and organizations, families of martyrs, veterans, and village residents.
First, the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and military personnel martyred during the defense of the territorial integrity, independence, and constitutional order of the Republic of Azerbaijan was honored with a minute of silence.
The representative for the Yenikənd village territorial district delivered a speech, providing extensive information about Yenikənd village to the meeting participants.
Speakers provided detailed information to the participants on the topic: “The Azerbaijani press has rendered exceptional services in realizing the most sacred aspirations of our people!” It was stated that the foundation of the Azerbaijani national press, which has traversed a glorious historical path of 150 years, was laid in 1875 with the publication of the "Əkinçi" newspaper. Since then, our press has played an unparalleled role in enlightening our society, shaping our national identity, and ensuring freedom of speech. Creating an environment of free speech and ensuring freedom of information for the media holds special importance for every era. National Leader Heydar Aliyev rendered exceptional services in the development of the press in our country. Participants were informed about his consistent initiatives and important decisions aimed at ensuring the free activity of media organizations, guaranteeing freedom of speech and thought for journalists, and solving press problems in our country.
In his speech, Mirhasan Seyidov, Head of Neftçala District Executive Power, stated that National Leader Heydar Aliyev played an irreplaceable role in the development of Azerbaijani media. Returning to power in 1993, Heydar Aliyev identified democratic development and civil society building as the main direction of state policy, eliminating artificial barriers restricting freedom of speech and information, including censorship. He consistently implemented measures aimed at forming a perfect legislative base regulating the activities of mass media and strengthening the material and technical base of editorial offices. The National Leader highly valued the role of journalism in the development of society, initiated the strengthening of the material and technical base of the press, ensured the free activity of media organizations in our country, guaranteed freedom of speech and thought for journalists, and adopted important decisions aimed at solving press problems.
The Head of the District Executive Power noted that President Ilham Aliyev's Order "On the Celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Azerbaijani National Press" specifically highlighted that the "Əkinçi" newspaper, published in Azerbaijani by the prominent intellectual, enlightener-publicist Hasan bey Zardabi, went down in history as the first example of our national press and an important event in the life of our country.
As stated in President Ilham Aliyev's Order signed in April of this year regarding the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the national press, Azerbaijan became one of the world's oil and industrial centers in the second half of the 19th century. For this reason, the necessity for the creation of a national press arose in Azerbaijan, which was experiencing a period of economic boom. The newspaper, which operated for only two years, not only championed enlightenment ideas but also published sharp articles against ignorance and superstition, making a significant contribution to the development of national self-awareness, social, political, and artistic thought, and the upbringing of a progressive generation of journalists.
The Head of the District Executive Power stated that against the backdrop of new geopolitical realities emerging in the region after the 44-day Patriotic War, which concluded with victory, the continuation of Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev's concept of restoring historical justice is to ensure the Great Return of internally displaced persons and refugees. He also spoke about the importance of the mission to restore the national-spiritual values and rights of the Azerbaijani people. He emphasized that Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev gave serious instructions in this regard during his meeting with members of the Western Azerbaijan Community. Furthermore, he noted that the country's leader's stance on restoring the rights of the Azerbaijani people and recognizing the rights of the Western Azerbaijan Community at an international level poses serious tasks for historians and legal scholars.
The Head of Neftçala District Executive Power informed the meeting participants about the reconstruction work carried out in Neftçala district.
During the mobile reception, citizens raised issues regarding road repair, provision of natural gas to Yenikənd village, installation of bus stops, appointment of qualified doctors to the village hospital, and other matters. Citizens' appeals were heard individually, issues were discussed, and relevant instructions were given for their resolution.
Citizens expressed their gratitude to Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva for the high attention and care shown, as well as for the landscaping and construction work carried out in the district.
