Microsoft is removing its Lens scanner app from iOS and Android platforms in the coming months.
Redaksiya reports that Microsoft Lens, or Office Lens as it's known to most users, will no longer be supported starting February 9th, and the app will cease operations after March 9th. This was officially announced by Microsoft.
Lens's portable scanning features will instead be available within OneDrive, indicating that a separate application is no longer necessary for Microsoft. Users will still be able to take pictures of whiteboards, documents, and receipts, save them digitally in OneDrive, and edit them. The captured images can then be converted into Word or PDF documents, as well as be properly cropped and rotated.
Microsoft first introduced the Office Lens app for iOS and Android platforms in 2015. This application allowed users to easily scan various documents, whiteboards, and other information and save them in digital format. The app's functionality significantly simplified the process of working with documents in users' professional and personal lives. Microsoft's decision is related to the company focusing more on OneDrive and providing broader functionality on this platform.
