Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has declared a state of emergency and signed a decree to mobilize the armed forces. The official decision comes amid reports of military attacks in the capital Caracas and other regions.
According to editorial sources, Maduro told Chinese state media CGTN that Venezuela had been bombed with missiles. He emphasized the importance of the international community reacting urgently to the situation, calling for immediate emergency meetings of the Organization of American States and the United Nations.
In a statement released by the Venezuelan government, the military attack, allegedly carried out by the United States, was described as a "military aggression." The official statement claimed that the primary objective of these attacks was to seize the country's oil and mineral reserves.
The government statement indicated that all defense plans would be activated against the imperialist aggression. Official Caracas declared that all means would be used to protect the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
