According to information released by the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin informed US President Donald Trump that Ukraine had carried out a drone attack on the Russian presidential state residence, a development that reportedly greatly surprised Trump.
The editorial states that the Kremlin reported Putin clearly conveyed Russia's intention to continue cooperation with the US towards achieving peace, but would reconsider its position, evaluating Kyiv's actions as "state-sponsored terrorism."
The Kremlin's statement emphasized that the Russian side believes certain agreements reached between Trump and Zelensky allow Ukraine to evade its commitments, which causes concern in Moscow.
It was reported that US President Donald Trump told Putin that he could not even imagine such a drone attack, that the US administration had not provided "Tomahawk" missiles to Kyiv, and that an attack on the head of state's residence was unacceptable.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that retaliatory measures would not be diplomatic, while Sergey Lavrov announced that 91 drones were destroyed over the state residence in the Novgorod region on the night of December 29, and that this attack, occurring amidst negotiations, would lead to a reassessment of Russia's position.
