Colombia Implements Maximum Security Regime on Venezuela Border

The Colombian government has raised security measures to the highest level in the city of Cúcuta, located on the border with Venezuela. The decision was made against the backdrop of increasing tensions and potential security risks in the region, and it envisages bringing the border zone under full control.

The editorial reports that the border plan has been activated and a maximum alert regime has been declared in Cúcuta, based on a direct order from Colombian President Gustavo Petro. Defense Minister Pedro Arnulfo Sánchez confirmed that the Unified Command Center has been launched to provide humanitarian assistance to the migrant population.

It was stated that public security forces have been deployed along the border and are taking measures to prevent possible activities by ELN and other illegal armed groups. At the same time, security has been strengthened around the US and Venezuelan embassies, ensuring the protection of diplomatic missions.

Official bodies have emphasized that the measures taken are aimed at both protecting border security and managing the humanitarian situation. The Colombian authorities have declared that all necessary steps will be taken to ensure stability in the region.
