SME Development Agency and AZPROMO Merged - New Agency Established

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed a Decree on improving management in the development of micro, small, and medium-sized businesses, and on regulating related issues.

The Editorial Office reports that based on the Decree, the Azerbaijan Agency for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME Development Agency) under the Ministry of Economy and the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency – AZPROMO have been merged to establish the Azerbaijan Agency for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Businesses, Investment and Export Promotion under the Ministry of Economy (hereinafter referred to as the Agency).

The Agency is a structure within the Ministry of Economy that operates in the direction of supporting the development of micro, small, and medium entrepreneurship, promoting investments and exports in the non-oil (gas) sector, participating in the protection of the interests of business entities, and coordinating the services of state bodies (institutions) and entrepreneurs in this area.

The staffing limit for the Agency's employees should be set at a total of 370 staff units, including 291 staff units for its Apparatus and 79 staff units for its regional divisions.
