The Canadian government is preparing to officially recognize the state of Palestine.

The editorial office reports that the decision is planned to be announced at the UN's 80th General Assembly in September. This step is being taken against the backdrop of Israel's failure to fulfill its ceasefire and humanitarian obligations in Gaza.

Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney stated: “Canada continues its commitment to a two-state solution, meaning an independent, viable, and sovereign Palestinian state living side-by-side with Israel in peace and security.”

This decision by Canada coincides with recognition processes also on the agenda of other countries like France, Italy, and Belgium. Experts believe that this will strengthen calls for Palestine's recognition within the framework of international law and will mark a new stage in supporting the two-state solution.
