Iran's cryptocurrency market significantly contracted in early 2025, as a result of increasing geopolitical tensions and a major exchange hack. This has led to significant changes in the country's cryptocurrency economy and eroded investor confidence.

Redaksiya reports that, according to a TRM Labs report, Iran's total cryptocurrency-related flows fell to approximately $3.7 billion between January and July 2025. This represents an 11% decrease compared to the same period in 2024. Sharp declines in monthly figures were recorded after April. This decrease is also linked to reduced activity in Iran's cryptocurrency market, falling trading volumes, and investors adopting a more cautious approach to risk. The exchange hack incident was also one of the factors that eroded investor confidence.

The report notes that this decline in Iran's cryptocurrency market has negatively impacted the country's economy. At a time when the role of cryptocurrencies in the global market is increasing, Iran's setback in this area could also affect the country's international trade and financial relations. Experts predict that the future state of Iran's cryptocurrency market will be closely linked to the stabilization of the geopolitical situation and changes in regulatory policies.
