Ilham Aliyev received the Prime Minister of Lithuania

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Inga Ruginiene on April 9.

The head of our state expressed his hope that the visit of the Lithuanian Prime Minister to our country would be fruitful and contribute to the development of our bilateral relations.

Expressing her gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for the reception, Inga Ruginiene noted with satisfaction that good relations have existed between Azerbaijan and Lithuania for many years.

During the conversation, it was stated that there are good prospects for further expanding economic and trade relations between our countries, discussions were held on cooperation in the fields of energy, investments, education, agriculture, and other areas, and the importance of organizing mutual visits of delegations in expanding our relations was emphasized.

The Prime Minister of Lithuania conveyed her congratulations to the head of our state on the establishment of peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Stating that large-scale restoration and construction work is being carried out in our liberated territories, the Prime Minister of Lithuania noted that extensive work is being carried out by the Azerbaijani state towards the return of former internally displaced persons.

Expressing his gratitude for the congratulations, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that our country was the initiator of establishing peace in the region and trade relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The head of our state stated that nearly 30,000 former internally displaced persons have already been ensured to return to their ancestral lands. President Ilham Aliyev said that cities and villages are being built, and transport and other social infrastructure projects are being implemented by Azerbaijan in our territories liberated from occupation. However, the head of our state noted that there is a problem of mines in these territories, which slows down the restoration and construction work. President Ilham Aliyev stated that since the Patriotic War, more than 400 people have been killed or injured in mine explosions in our liberated territories.

During the meeting, in addition to the bilateral agenda of Azerbaijan-Lithuania relations, issues of cooperation within the framework of international organizations were also touched upon. In this regard, it was emphasized that Lithuania has always supported the development of Azerbaijan's relations with the European Union.

During the conversation, views were also exchanged on regional issues.
