According to Politico, the US administration has presented a controversial plan for Ukraine's reconstruction through businessman Steve Witkoff. The proposal suggests that 50 percent of the revenue generated from frozen Russian assets, intended for Ukraine's reconstruction, would be given to the United States.
Citing a source, the editorial reports that European diplomats reacted harshly to this initiative. European Union officials sharply criticized the plan, calling it a “skandal” and a “classic Trump approach.” Some officials, mentioning Witkoff by name, even stated that the plan's author “needs psychiatric support.”
The aforementioned proposal has further deepened existing disagreements between the US and Europe regarding the fate of Russian assets and the financing of Ukraine's reconstruction.
