Russian political scientist Alexander Dugin has stated that religious Zionists hold a specific view regarding the current Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.
According to Dugin, these groups consider Netanyahu to be the last Prime Minister of Israel.
In their view, the arrival of the Messiah (Jesus Christ) is expected after this event. Therefore, Netanyahu's potential death would not simply mean a loss in a war or a successful response from Iran.
Dugin noted that the eschatological, meaning the religious apocalyptic, dimension of the issue is becoming decisive.
