Recently, we have frequently encountered problems in the operation of the Baku Metro. In most cases, this results in intervals of up to 10 minutes in train movement.
The editorial office reports that the complaints received also mention that trains are delayed at stations, causing passengers to arrive late at their destinations.
So, what is the reason for this? What is happening in the Baku Metro?
We sent an inquiry to the press service of the Closed Joint Stock Company regarding the issue. The organization informed BAKU.WS that the congestion in some stations is due to the mass flow of passengers resulting from the start of the winter examination session at higher education institutions, as well as the overlapping of academic schedules of various educational institutions. To manage the resulting passenger load, reserve trains are promptly put into service, and the situation is constantly monitored.
According to the information, the travel time of trains on the routes has not changed, but during peak hours, the departure time of trains from stations can be delayed due to passengers interfering with the carriage doors. This delay, in some cases, leads to disruptions in the train schedule.
"It should be noted that currently, with an intensity of 34 pairs/hour (35 pairs/hour in the evening), the interval between trains has been reduced to the minimum possible. Each train that leaves the station on time creates the basis for the next train to enter the platform on time according to the schedule. Therefore, we ask passengers to strictly follow the instructions of the station staff to avoid delaying the movement schedule.
This means that 34 trains move from one station in one hour in one direction, and 34 trains in the other direction.
"If any technical problem arises in the operational activity of the Metro, the public is immediately informed about it through the official media resources of the organization. Currently, the average travel time between two adjacent stations is kept constant in accordance with the technical parameters of the infrastructure," the statement emphasized.
