“The level of women's participation in national entrepreneurship, which is one of the main driving forces of economic development in Azerbaijan, is continuously increasing. The rise in women's activity, especially in the small and medium-sized business sector, makes a significant contribution to the formation of an inclusive economy.”
These words were stated by Bahar Muradova, Chairwoman of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, during her speech at an event dedicated to Entrepreneurship Day on the topic “Entrepreneurship Development is a Strong Economy.”
She noted that the participation of women and youth in the agricultural sector is expanding, and new opportunities are being created for the strengthening of family farms.
It was noted that within the framework of restoration and reconstruction programs implemented in the liberated Karabakh and East Zangazur economic regions, new business entities are being formed in the agricultural, tourism, service, and industrial sectors, and a favorable environment is being created for local and foreign investments. This process serves both economic revival and social reintegration.
B. Muradova emphasized that entrepreneurs must increase social responsibility, and conditions for women should be expanded. Entrepreneurs must ensure the comfortable and safe activity of employees, especially women, in the workplace. If we want to increase women's participation in the labor market, an environment that creates conditions for childcare services, healthcare opportunities, and balancing work and family responsibilities must be formed in enterprises.
This is a matter of choice, and these rights must be ensured by the state: "However, employers must simultaneously create the necessary safety and social conditions for such activities. To form an inclusive and sustainable work environment, entrepreneurs' approach to social responsibility must be further strengthened," the Committee Chair added.
In her speech, the Committee Chair noted that cooperation between state institutions, civil society organizations, and entrepreneurs' associations plays an important role in increasing women's economic activity.
B. Muradova stated that the institution she leads consistently works towards increasing women's economic activity, developing family businesses, and strengthening social welfare. Within this framework, trainings, awareness-raising meetings, and support programs are implemented in the regions to enhance women's entrepreneurial skills.
