Relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine have for many years been based on mutual respect and the principles of international law. In particular, the parties' support for each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty forms the political basis of these ties. This position was reaffirmed during Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenskiy's visit to our country. As is known, documents signed in 2008 and 2011 elevated these relations to the level of strategic partnership. The intensive contacts between leaders in recent years confirm the dynamic nature of these relations. This is also an indicator of real cooperation based on mutual interests.

The meeting held in Gabala and the statements made to the press confirm that relations between the heads of state have moved to a broader plane of strategic and practical cooperation. This visit was marked by important messages in both regional and global geopolitical contexts.

One of the main directions of the meeting was the energy sector. Azerbaijan's energy resources and Ukraine's transit and consumption capabilities create synergy in this area. As is known, SOCAR has been operating in Ukraine for many years, which is a practical result of this cooperation.

Although the trade turnover exceeding half a billion dollars is considered a positive indicator, both sides admit that it is significantly below potential. New investment projects and joint initiatives give reason to believe that economic ties will expand in the coming years.

One of the notable points during the visit was the expansion of cooperation in the defense industry. Mr. President also emphasized that there are great prospects here. Both in Azerbaijan and Ukraine, the military-industrial complex is developing, and there are excellent opportunities for joint production, generally in the industrial sector. Incidentally, this cooperation, which will include anti-drone technology, is defensive in nature. Azerbaijan is in no way participating in the war between Russia and Ukraine. Official Baku advocates for the resolution of this war through mutual dialogue and understanding between the two states.

Azerbaijan also contributes to the development of the humanitarian sphere in bilateral relations. This stems from the policy of the Azerbaijani state. Azerbaijan always supports regions and peoples suffering from conflict. Humanitarian aid manifests itself in several forms. Our country sends electric generators to Ukraine for the implementation of rehabilitation programs for children from Ukraine, as well as to overcome the crisis caused by the failure of Ukraine's energy system.

Furthermore, Azerbaijan is a country with unique experience in the field of restoration and reconstruction worldwide. In the future, Official Baku can share its experience in the implementation of restoration and reconstruction projects, as well as in the mine clearance process.

Relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine are being developed in accordance with the interests of both nations. The signing of 6 documents between the two countries will further strengthen the institutional foundation of cooperation.
