On October 13, a meeting was held in Baku between Shahin Mustafayev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Aleksey Overchuk, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation.
During the meeting, the current state and development prospects of Azerbaijan-Russia economic cooperation in various directions were discussed.
It was noted that trade turnover between the two countries increased by more than 10 percent in 2024, and this positive dynamic continued in the current year, with mutual trade increasing by 13.5% over 8 months compared to the corresponding period last year, reaching 3 billion 350 million dollars.
The volume of transportation along the North-South corridor increased by 8.3 percent over 9 months of 2025. Of this, 10.4 percent accounts for road transport and 2 percent for railway transport.
Over the 8 months of this year, a 15% increase was observed in the export of agricultural products from Azerbaijan to Russia, with 23% of this attributed to fruit and vegetable products.
The parties expressed satisfaction with the progress of joint projects implemented in the fields of investments, industry, transport-transit, energy, customs, and other areas.
In the context of strengthening transport links, special attention was paid to the development of the North-South international transport corridor, and the importance of synchronously implementing infrastructure expansion work along the corridor and ensuring a continuous increase in cargo flows was emphasized.
During the meeting, an exchange of views also took place on effectively utilizing the existing potential for cooperation, further expanding mutual relations, and realizing new joint initiatives.
At the same time, the importance of the Azerbaijan-Iran-Russia trilateral meeting held in Baku was touched upon, and confidence was expressed that the discussions held and decisions made would contribute to further strengthening cooperation in relevant areas, benefiting all three countries and the region as a whole.
