The Audiovisual Council has drawn up a protocol against the "MTV" channel and appealed to the court for its fine, due to the broadcast of a wedding celebration involving a consanguineous marriage.

The Council released information about this.

Specifically, during the broadcast of the program "Toya gəlmişik" (We've Come to a Wedding) on the aforementioned channel, aired on October 22 between 20:31 and 21:24, the requirement of Article 9.3 of the Law "On Protection of Children from Harmful Information" was violated.

During the broadcast of that program, a wedding ceremony held in one of the regions, involving relatives (a maternal aunt's daughter and son), was shown.

The information also noted that a few days prior, a similar violation was committed by another broadcaster, and that broadcaster was warned at a meeting of the Audiovisual Council. When that broadcaster was warned, all broadcasters were informed to be careful and that monitoring in this direction would continue:

"A few days after that incident, the aforementioned violation occurred on the "MTV" channel. Considering the seriousness of the issue and with the aim of drawing broadcasters' attention to this matter once again, on October 24, an authorized representative of "MUZ TV Azərbaycan" LLC, to which the "MTV" channel belongs, was invited to the Audiovisual Council. A protocol on administrative offense was drawn up for the violation and sent to the relevant court."

It should be noted that, according to Article 388-2.0.4 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, legal entities are fined an amount from three thousand to four thousand manats for the mentioned violation.
