On April 16, an online event was held on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Asian Ombudsmen Association (AOA).
During her speech at the event, which was attended by heads and representatives of ombudsman and national human rights institutions from Turkey, Pakistan, China, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Japan, Thailand, and other countries, the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, AOA Vice-President Sabina Aliyeva congratulated the participants on the thirtieth anniversary of the Association's establishment, stated that AOA had achieved a number of important successes during the past period, and highly appreciated its work.
The Commissioner noted that events on business and human rights, rights of persons with disabilities, corporate responsibility, and other topical issues were held within the framework of the Association, and positive results were achieved.
S. Aliyeva brought to attention that Azerbaijan's Ombudsman institution is an active member of the Association and that our country has hosted important events such as the AOA Board Meeting.
The Commissioner recalled that the initiative to create an international platform in the field of business and human rights within the AOA framework was positively received by ombudsman institutions of other member countries, emphasizing that the establishment of a working group in this area would make a significant contribution to regular information exchange and coordination of joint activities.
Within the framework of the event, ombudsmen shared their positive experiences and exchanged views on the development of joint cooperation within the Association. Furthermore, an exchange of views was held among AOA members regarding the future directions of the institution's activities.
