"The construction of the bridge, which is an important component of the Araz corridor, is expected to be completed by the end of this year."

Redaksiya.az reports, citing "Report", that Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev announced this during his speech at the trilateral meeting of government representatives from Azerbaijan, Russia, and Iran held in Baku.

According to him, based on the Intergovernmental Memorandum of Understanding signed between Azerbaijan and Iran in March 2022, the new Aghband-Kalala highway bridge, currently under construction over the Araz River, will become an important part of the region's strategic transport infrastructure.

Sh. Mustafayev noted that the construction of the bridge, an important component of the Araz corridor, is planned to be completed by the end of this year, and together with the relevant border-customs infrastructure, in the first quarter of next year.

The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized that the construction of the Horadiz-Aghband highway and railway is also planned to be completed next year:

"This important transport infrastructure will not only form a new branch of both the East-West and North-South international transport corridors but will also play the role of a new route connecting the Persian Gulf with the Black Sea."
