Redaksiya reports that significant developments are occurring in Turkey's defense industry. Among these news items are the latest updates regarding the ANKA-III unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Developed by TUSAŞ, the ANKA-III is now capable of conducting flights in autonomous mode. In a statement from TUSAŞ, it was announced that the autopilot tests were successfully completed with the ANKA-III's 46th flight.

With its artificial intelligence-supported mission computers, advanced data processing capabilities, and autonomy infrastructure, the ANKA-III will offer a high-level situational awareness and decision support architecture suitable for future combat environments. The ANKA-III's distinctive triangular design and its munitions hidden within the wings promise low radar observability. With a single turbofan engine configuration, the ANKA-III will be able to reach speeds of 425 knots (0.7 Mach) and carry a payload of up to 1200 kilograms. A twin-engine configuration will achieve speeds above Mach 1.2.

The ANKA-III will be used for reconnaissance, surveillance, and intelligence missions. It will be able to combat enemy helicopters, rotorcraft, and UAVs with air-to-air munitions. Simultaneously, it will perform numerous tasks such as neutralizing enemy RF-emitting radar and air defense systems, providing support to friendly forces in the air and on the ground, signal and communication intelligence, electronic warfare, operating in conjunction with other friendly elements, and acting as a communication relay. In this context, the ANKA-III will be of great importance both within and behind enemy lines. Regarding the technical specifications of the ANKA-III, it has a length of 9.5 meters, a wingspan of 12.5 meters, a height of 2.8 meters, a maximum takeoff weight of 6500 kilograms, a payload of 1200 kilograms, a maximum altitude of 40,000 feet, a cruise speed of Mach 0.4, a maximum speed of Mach 0.7, a thrust of 5500 lbf (Ivchenko Progress AI-322, without afterburner), a maximum endurance of 10 hours, internal weapon stations of 2 (each 650 kg), external weapon stations of 5 (1000/650/100 kg), communication capabilities of BLOS/LOS (Satellite Control), an electro-optical system of EOTS/IRST, low radar signature, high maneuverability and agility, high payload capacity, and autonomous mission capabilities.
