The National Council of Youth Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan organized a series of events on Remembrance Day in connection with September 27 – the 5th anniversary of our Glorious 44-day Victory.
On Remembrance Day, the Victory Monument was visited with the participation of leaders, representatives of youth organizations, and student youth. During the march, which involved more than 2000 young people, the dear memory of our martyrs was commemorated with deep respect and reverence, and wreaths were laid before the monument.
With the support of the Youth Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the joint organization of NAYORA and the Platform of Azerbaijani Students and Alumni, an event titled “Unity in Remembrance: Azerbaijan’s Story for the World” was held with the participation of foreign youth. The event began with the playing of the State Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan and a minute of silence in memory of our martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the 44-day Patriotic War.
At the event, Rafael Hajibayli, Chairman of NAYORA; Lieutenant Colonel Muraz Sadigov, participant of the 44-day Patriotic War; and Gulustam Karimli, Program Manager of the Platform of Azerbaijani Students and Alumni, delivered speeches. In their speeches, the speakers shared their thoughts on the course of the 44-day Patriotic War, the national solidarity of the Azerbaijani people, the bravery of our army, and the significance of the historic Victory achieved under the resolute leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev. They also emphasized the heroism of our martyrs, the selflessness of our veterans, and that this victory serves as an eternal example for future generations. Foreign youth participated in the event and received extensive information about the role of the 44-day war in Azerbaijan's history, the unity and solidarity of the people, as well as the restoration and peace-building steps implemented in the post-war period. The event continued with an interactive Q&A session among the youth.
Within the framework of the series of events organized with the support of the Youth Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the joint organization of NAYORA and the "Great Return" Youth Organization Public Union, the families of our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland were visited to commemorate their dear memory and to express respect for the heroism displayed by our veterans. During the visits, meetings were held with the families of the martyrs of the Patriotic War, and the dear memory of our martyrs was respectfully honored. It was emphasized during the meetings that as a result of the heroism of our Victorious Army in the 44-day Patriotic War, Karabakh and our other occupied territories were liberated, and this Victory left an eternal mark in the history of Azerbaijan.
The families of the martyrs noted that our state is always by their side and expressed pride in the heroism of their martyred children. They also stated that the historic Victory achieved holds special importance in the life of every Azerbaijani, and they are proud that their children had a share in this Victory. During the meetings, discussions were held about the combat path of our martyrs, their life stories, and the spirit of patriotism and struggle they carried from a young age. It was particularly emphasized that they joined the call of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev with great pride and sacrificed their lives for the Motherland. It should be noted that the project will continue for 44 days.
At the same time, the country's youth and volunteer organizations addressed a statement to international organizations regarding the 5th anniversary of the 44-day Patriotic War.
The statement emphasizes that the historic Victory achieved in 2020 resulted in the full restoration of Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity, creating a page of heroism that will be written for centuries. This victory was made possible thanks to the iron will of the head of state, the lives of our martyrs, the selflessness of our veterans, and the unity of our people. Azerbaijani youth bow before the sacred memory of our martyrs and consider it their highest duty to pass on their heroism to future generations.
