Singer Released on Amnesty Faces New Trial

A court case has begun against singer Deniz Əsədova, who is accused of forging fake disability certificates.

The editorial office reports, citing Modern.az, that today at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, under the chairmanship of Judge Vüqar Seyidov, the personal information of the accused was clarified.

The criminal case has been submitted for court review, and the review hearing has been scheduled for January 22.

A measure of restraint in the form of house arrest has been chosen for Deniz Əsədova.

It should be noted that Deniz Əsədova has been charged under Articles 32.4, 308.2 (incitement to abuse of power) and 32.4, 313 (incitement to official forgery) of the Criminal Code by the Main Department for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General. The singer is accused of forging fake disability certificates by taking money from citizens.

According to the indictment, she, in collusion with Rauf İsfəndiyarov, the former chief physician of United City Hospital No. 21 in Sabunchu district, whose criminal case is currently under judicial investigation, assisted 136 people in obtaining fake disability status.

The state has suffered a loss of 1.6 million manats in this case.

It should be noted that Deniz Əsədova was previously convicted in a private prosecution for fraud and for insulting and defaming several individuals.

She was sentenced to 7 months of imprisonment by the Binəqədi District Court for insulting and defaming her lawyer Asim Abbasov. Later, her sentence was increased due to her insulting and defaming another person.

Deniz Əsədova was released from Penitentiary Service's Institution No. 4 (for women) of the Ministry of Justice within the framework of the Amnesty Act adopted at the initiative of President Ilham Əliyev.
