A public opinion poll conducted in Germany has revealed that the government's decisions regarding Gaza have caused controversy in society.

The editorial office reports that, according to a YouGov poll, 65 percent of Germans supported halting the export of weapons to Israel that could be used in Gaza. 19 percent of respondents considered this decision wrong, while 16 percent did not state a position.

Regarding the EU-Israel Association Agreement, society is more divided. 45 percent of respondents supported the German government's policy of not suspending the agreement, 32 percent said it was wrong, and 23 percent did not express an opinion.

It should be recalled that after the Israeli Security Cabinet approved a plan envisioning the occupation of Gaza City in northern Gaza, German Chancellor Fridrich Mers announced on August 8 that arms exports to Israel had been suspended.

Thus, while the German public supports the government's actions regarding Gaza, it remains divided, especially on the issue of EU-Israel cooperation.
