Changes have been made to the rules limiting the amount of deductions from wages.

This is reflected in the Law on Amendments to the Labor Code, approved by President Ilham Aliyev.

According to current legislation, the total amount of all deductions made each time wages are paid cannot exceed 20 percent of the employee's wages, and in cases provided for by relevant legislation, 50 percent.

When amounts are deducted from wages based on several enforcement documents, 50 percent of the employee's wages must be retained in all cases.

These restrictions do not apply to deductions from wages paid to employees during correctional labor, as well as for the deduction of alimony, compensation for damages to health, compensation for damages to persons who have suffered from the loss of the family provider, and compensation for damages caused by a crime. According to the law, in such cases, the amount of deductions cannot exceed 70 percent of the wages to be paid to the employee.
