A practical training session titled “A to Z of the Internet: Practical Training for Media” was organized with the support of the Information and Communication Technologies Agency, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, and the Media Development Agency.
Speaking at the opening of the event, Rashad Bayramov, advisor to the Minister of Digital Development and Transport, stated that special importance is attached to digitalization and increasing digital literacy in the country. He noted that within the framework of the “Online Azerbaijan” project, access to stable broadband internet has been created in all regions of the country. It was reported that while the average download speed of media in the country was approximately 10 Mbit/s at the end of 2020, this figure has increased to 90 Mbit/s by the end of 2025. This increase is a result of the steps taken in recent years to modernize the internet infrastructure.
In his speech, Nail Mardanov, Chairman of the Board of ICTA, emphasized that one of the main priorities of the reforms in the telecommunications sector is to improve service quality. He stated that comprehensive measures are being implemented to form a sustainable infrastructure, ensure a transparent market environment, and increase citizen satisfaction. The Chairman noted that the main goal of the training organized for journalists is to contribute to the more accurate and objective informing of the public on internet-related topics and to encourage the explanation of technical concepts in a simple and precise manner.
Natig Mammadli, Deputy Executive Director of the Media Development Agency, emphasized the importance of developing specialized journalism, stating that a specialized and professional approach enhances the quality of media content and serves to inform society correctly. According to him, increasing knowledge in the field of modern technologies plays a significant role in the professional development of journalists.
Within the framework of the training, participants were provided with practical and application-oriented information on the principles of internet operation, concepts of speed and quality, Wi-Fi technologies, the role of modems and other equipment, measurement methods, as well as the correct diagnosis of internet problems, and participants' questions were answered.
Certificates were presented to the participants at the end of the training.
