Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on his Telegram channel the results of a consultation regarding the emergency situation in the country's energy system. According to the information, three important decisions were made at the consultation to improve the situation in the capital, Kyiv. The main goal of these decisions is to overcome the difficulties caused by Russian attacks and deteriorating weather conditions.
Redaksiya reports that Zelensky specifically stated that they analyzed the situation in Kyiv separately. He noted that the situation is also complex in Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, and other cities and regions. While Zelensky emphasized that the local authorities in Kharkiv are prepared, he stated that the situation in Kyiv is not at the desired level. The President noted that insufficient work has been done in the capital and that even in recent days, intensity has not been observed, stressing the importance of urgently rectifying the situation.
In addition, Zelensky announced that he had instructed the government to review the curfew rules in the event of extreme cold weather. He stated that people should be provided with maximum access to support points, and businesses should have the opportunity to plan their work considering the situation in the energy system. The President demanded an increase in the number of "Points of Invincibility" in Kyiv and an inspection of the existing ones. He also added that he expects proposals from the Ministry of Education and Science and local authorities regarding the formats of the educational process during emergencies. Zelensky emphasized that Russian strikes and deteriorating weather conditions have had severe consequences, noting that repair crews, energy companies, utility services, and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine are working 24 hours a day to restore electricity and heating.
Zelensky stated that officials should present relevant proposals in places where security conditions permit. He stressed the importance of taking these steps so that people can receive the necessary support at any time and businesses can plan their work more effectively. The main goal of the decisions made at the consultation is to improve the energy situation in Kyiv. According to these decisions, a headquarters will be established to coordinate the situation in the capital, which will operate permanently. The government will strengthen ties with international partners to accelerate necessary assistance, and curfew rules will be reviewed. Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko promised that starting from Thursday, provided there are no new Russian attacks, preferential schedules for electricity supply to consumers will be implemented. First Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal will lead the support efforts for people and communities, as well as the resolution of practical issues. Zelensky also announced that an emergency regime will be introduced for Ukraine's energy sector as a whole.
