Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated that the upcoming talks between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump are of vital importance for the future of humanity, Europe, and Serbia. According to him, if peace is ensured, pressures against Serbia will decrease, and may even completely disappear.
The editorial office reports that Vučić's statement comes against the backdrop of protests that have been ongoing in the country for several months. In recent days, protest actions have brought Serbia almost to the brink of civil war. In this situation, the head of state's words stem from his intention and hopes to preserve power.
Experts believe that Vučić's message to Putin and Trump aims both to reduce internal political tension and to strengthen Serbia's position in the international arena.
