Work is underway to resolve issues related to military registration and soldiers deserting their units (hereinafter referred to as desertion) in Ukraine. This was stated by Fedir Venislavskyi, a deputy from the "Servant of the People" faction and a member of the Verkhovna Rada's National Security and Defense Committee, on Radio NV.
Redaksiya reports that Venislavskyi stated that this issue was also raised at a closed meeting of the National Security and Defense Committee yesterday. He noted that a comprehensive approach is currently being developed to resolve conflicts with military registration offices, desertion, and problematic issues related to mobilization in general.
Previously, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi had stated that soldiers returning from desertion are primarily sent to units located in the hottest spots of the front.
"The issue of improving mobilization has been raised personally by the President of Ukraine and the new Minister of Defense, Fedir, who has repeatedly stated that this is his main priority," he said.
At the same time, the commander-in-chief emphasized that after returning from desertion, the path opens not "only" to airborne assault and assault troops, but "including" these troops.
Venislavskyi also announced that deferment for contract soldiers aged 18-25 who have already served will be adopted next week.
Venislavskyi stated that the issue of improving mobilization is a priority for the Minister of Defense.
"The Minister of Defense is dealing with this issue," the deputy emphasized.
