Iran has declared its readiness to play an active role in future security issues in the region.
Iran's Ambassador to Armenia, Khalil Shirgholami, commented on the processes occurring around his country in an interview with "Sputnik Armenia".
The ambassador noted that there has been no power vacuum in Iran after the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. According to him, although Iran has lost some important figures, a new leader has been elected and internal stability has been maintained.
The diplomat emphasized that during aggression against Iran, the opposing side pursued two main strategic goals: to collapse the ruling system and weaken the Iranian army, but neither of these objectives has been realized.
He also stated that Tehran is considering the possibility of a ground invasion and has concrete plans against this scenario. The ambassador added that such a possibility becomes even more relevant amidst the confusion and tension arising from the situation in the US, especially in the context of Donald Trump's stance.
The ambassador also touched upon the Zanghezur corridor. Khalil Shirgholami stated that Iran's concerns in this context have increased after the war, considering the US participation in the TRIPP project. (Modern.az)
