At the conclusion of the 7th meeting of the OTS ministers responsible for media and information and high-ranking officials held in Baku, an action plan for the OTS and member states in the field of media was approved. In addition, a Communiqué was signed among the member states and presented to the public.
This was stated in his remarks to journalists by Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency.
He noted that the Communiqué identifies increasing media literacy, combating disinformation, and developing reliable approaches to information dissemination on a regional and global scale as key priorities.
“The heads and members of the state delegations noted that mutual support is important during the organization of events held at local, regional, and global levels and participation in these events, and the closer involvement of media institutions of all member states in this process must be ensured.
Significant work has been done in this direction in the past period. Close cooperation formats already exist among the media institutions of the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States. This cooperation is carried out at the level of audiovisual, print, and online media, as well as news agencies. Memoranda signed between news agencies are being successfully implemented and are highly appreciated by the heads of delegations. Media institutions have also been recommended to further expand this line of cooperation in the future," Ismayilov emphasized.
He added that a special alliance of news agencies of OTS member countries exists, and within the framework of this platform, an agreement has been reached on improving information exchange mechanisms.
A. Ismayilov stated that the next meeting will be held next year in Astana, Kazakhstan.
