Spirit Airlines, based in Florida, US, is preparing to file for bankruptcy for the second time due to dwindling cash reserves and increasing financial losses.
The editorial office, citing The Wall Street Journal, reports that the airline had announced serious concerns about its financial stability earlier this month. Spirit Airlines filed for bankruptcy protection last November amid years of financial difficulties, unsuccessful merger attempts, and a growing debt burden. This made the company the first major airline to go bankrupt in the US since 2011.
Spirit Airlines management, however, declined to answer questions regarding the new bankruptcy filing currently on the agenda.
