The partnership forming between Slovakia and Azerbaijan is based not only on political contacts but also on mutual trust, respect for each other's independence, and future-oriented strategic goals.
A significant pillar of Slovakia-Azerbaijan relations is, of course, the energy sector. The supply of Azerbaijani gas to Slovakia since last year has opened new opportunities for expanding economic cooperation between the two countries. This is, of course, of great strategic importance for Slovakia. Azerbaijan exports gas to 14 countries, with nearly half of its total exports going to the European Union. The exploitation of new fields also makes Central Europe's energy security more reliable. At the same time, Azerbaijan's growing green energy potential creates significant opportunities in this area. A promising line of cooperation where Slovak companies can participate is already taking shape. Furthermore, both countries consider cooperation in the defense industry a priority. As our esteemed President Mr. Ilham Aliyev stated, the goal is not military operations, but to create new, competitive products by combining technological and industrial capabilities.
This is because Slovakia's advanced technologies, combined with Azerbaijan's financial and production capabilities, make it possible to develop products that can be brought to the global market. Practical work is already underway on several projects, which is a strong indicator of trust and long-term cooperation between the two countries.
Azerbaijan-Slovakia cooperation in the field of transport and logistics is also noteworthy. Azerbaijan plays a key role in the East-West transport corridor and acts as a crucial link in this transit route. Routes passing through the Middle Corridor offer the safest and most sustainable transit opportunities in the Eurasian space. This potential promises significant economic benefits for Slovakia as well. According to the head of state, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, investments directed towards this area in the coming years will lead to further expansion of trade turnover and economic ties between the two countries. The official visit of Mr. Ilham Aliyev to Slovakia in recent days was important in many aspects. A number of new documents related to various sectors were signed within the framework of the visit. The signed documents indicate that the relations between the two countries will have a broader and more sustainable future cooperation line.
All these points show that the partnership forming between Slovakia and Azerbaijan is based not only on political contacts but also on mutual trust, respect for each other's independence, and future-oriented strategic goals. This cooperation, built on friendship, can be evaluated as a real policy model that serves to strengthen stability in the region, energy security in Europe, and economic integration across Eurasia.
