Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated that he was misunderstood in his statement regarding Turkey.
The editorial office reports that Vučić responded to claims that he threatened Turkey by saying:
“Are we threatening Turkey? We are too small a country for that. Turkey is a very great power, NATO's second-largest military force. The only thing I said was ‘We got the message’.”
It should be recalled that previously, Vučić had criticized Turkey's role in the Balkans, stating:
“It is very clear that Turkey does not want stability in the Western Balkans and dreams of rebuilding the Ottoman Empire. Serbia is a small country, but we understand their true intentions.”
Following these statements, diplomatic tension is reported to have increased along the Belgrade–Ankara line.
