The court investigation into the criminal case of blogger Qabil Mammadov, who lives in Germany, which was heard in absentia, has concluded.

According to "Qafqazinfo", the verdict was read at the last session held at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes.

The court panel chaired by Elnur Nuriyev concluded that the charges brought against the accused have been confirmed with sufficient evidence and proofs.

According to the verdict, Qabil Mammadov was sentenced to 16 years of deprivation of liberty.

It should be noted that Qabil Mammadov is accused of fraud by giving false promises to individuals, extortion by threat, terrorism, resistance against a representative of authority, organizing or actively participating in actions causing disruption of public order, and other crimes.

Two months ago, he was officially summoned to the Investigation Department of the General Prosecutor's Office. Since he did not appear for the summons, a measure of restraint in the form of arrest was chosen against him based on the decision of the Binagadi District Court, with the participation of a subsequently appointed lawyer.
