On August 31, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev participated in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit held in Tianjin, China, and met with the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping. The head of state also attended events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Chinese people's victory in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
Referring to China Economic Net, the editorial office reports that Hikmat Hajiyev, Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration and Assistant to the President, described the results of the meeting as “productive.” According to him, there is a comprehensive strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and China, and these relations are developing dynamically.
Hikmat Hajiyev stated that the two countries support each other in international organizations and partner in the fight against the “three evils” of terrorism, extremism, and separatism. He emphasized that Azerbaijan and China adhere to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of states and respect each country's right to choose its economic development model.
He also touched upon the future of economic relations, noting the expansion of cooperation opportunities in energy, renewable energy, and advanced technologies, alongside traditional areas. Hikmat Hajiyev also mentioned an increase in exchanges in the humanitarian field, culture, and tourism sectors.
It was also emphasized that President Ilham Aliyev would hold meetings with leading Chinese companies operating in the renewable energy, technology, and communication sectors during the visit. Hikmat Hajiyev concluded by stating that this visit would make a significant contribution to the further development of China-Azerbaijan economic and trade relations.
