President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by the President of the Asian Development Bank, Masato Kanda, on November 14.

During the meeting, effective cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Asian Development Bank was touched upon, and the successful implementation of joint projects was noted. It was emphasized that since 1999, the Asian Development Bank has provided financial support to Azerbaijan amounting to 5.5 billion dollars through 145 credit, grant, investment, and technical assistance projects covering transport, water supply, energy, finance, education, healthcare, and other sectors.

It was noted that the Asian Development Bank successfully cooperates not only with the Azerbaijani state but also with the private sector. In this regard, joint projects implemented in oil and gas, electricity, road, railway, agriculture, water supply, wastewater discharge, and other areas were mentioned.

During the conversation, it was brought to attention that the achievements made in Washington towards advancing the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia also create great opportunities for expanding the region's transport and transit capabilities.

The importance of connections along the Central Asia-Azerbaijan-Europe route was noted during the meeting. New projects between our country and the bank were also discussed, specifically cooperation issues related to railway, metro network expansion, and water supply.
