According to Bloomberg, OpenAI is on the verge of raising over $100 billion, with a valuation that could exceed $850 billion. This development comes as the creator of ChatGPT continues to incur losses while moving towards profitability.
Redaksiya reports that to this end, OpenAI has begun testing advertisements within ChatGPT for free users. This move could either generate more revenue or cause users to move away from the platform.
Investors appear to consider this risk worthwhile, valuing the company at $830 billion, $20 billion higher than initially expected. According to Bloomberg's source, the company's pre-money valuation will remain at $730 billion.
The initial stages of funding are reportedly being carried out by Amazon (in talks to invest up to $50 billion), SoftBank (preparing $30 billion), Nvidia (close to investing around $20 billion), and Microsoft, as is typical. VC funds and sovereign wealth funds are expected to close later, further increasing the total amount raised. TechCrunch has reached out to OpenAI for comment.
