There are days in the history of our nation that are written in golden letters. One of those days is September 27, 2020. We can confidently say that this day, when the foundation of our Victory chronicle was laid, will never be erased from the nation's memory or our military history.
On that day, a new stage began in the resolution of the artificially created, but now past, “Karabakh conflict.” As is known, the inactivity and dual stance of the organization responsible for resolving this conflict, as well as the influence of some international pro-Armenian circles, did not hinder our people's struggle to achieve their main goal. The Azerbaijani people, who had shown patience and restraint for a long time, mobilized instantly. The whole world knew well at that time that Azerbaijan's struggle was a just struggle. The fact that the fight against the enemy was conducted within our internationally recognized borders clearly proved this.
In this regard, with the exception of a number of pro-Armenian circles and countries, most international organizations and countries supported Azerbaijan's just cause. On September 27, 2020, in response to the enemy's next provocation, large-scale military operations launched by the Azerbaijani Army changed the overall picture in the region. Under the leadership of Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Mr. Ilham Aliyev, our army made the enemy understand what the “Iron Fist” expression meant. The enemy was made to understand in a language it understood. On the very first day of the battles, the Azerbaijani Army already achieved the incredible. Thanks to well-thought-out and timely decisions, the perfectly armed and prepared Azerbaijani soldier delivered the blow the enemy deserved right on the battlefield. The terrain, the enemy's prior strengthening of its defensive potential, and the difference in levels in face-to-face positions until that moment showed that nothing was a problem for our Victorious army. The Patriotic War, which went down in military history, resulted in the enemy raising the white flag and being destroyed in just 44 days. Of course, our historical success did not come easy. Our brave, heroic sons displayed true valor for the liberation of our lands. They liberated our native lands from the enemy at the cost of their lives and blood.
We gave martyrs, and many lives lost their health permanently. On December 2, 2020, the esteemed President Mr. Ilham Aliyev signed an order “On the Establishment of the Day of Remembrance in the Republic of Azerbaijan” regarding the commemoration of September 27, the day the war began, as the Day of Remembrance. This decision was an example of deep respect and reverence for our soldiers and officers who waved our glorious flag in our liberated lands and did not spare their lives on this path, and for all our martyrs.
