On November 28, 2025, the 7th meeting of ministers and high-ranking officials responsible for media and information of the Organization of Turkic States was held in Baku.
Speaking with an opening speech at the meeting, Ömer Kocaman, Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, noted that cooperation in the media sector has increasingly developed within a more systematic and institutional framework in recent years, emphasizing that expanding content exchange among media organizations of member states, strengthening coordinated activities in strategic communication, and forming agile defense mechanisms against disinformation have become key priorities for the Turkic world. He stated that the Organization is determined to further deepen this line of cooperation, particularly envisioning the implementation of new initiatives and joint projects in the areas of information security and strategic communication.
Ahmed Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, stated that cooperation in the media and information sector of the Organization of Turkic States holds special significance as a strategic platform uniting member countries around a common historical, cultural, and linguistic unity. He emphasized that expanding information exchange, joint struggle against fake news and hybrid threats, as well as establishing a more sustainable and coordinated pan-Turkic information space are among the main goals of this cooperation, and noted that the Azerbaijani side is interested in continuing joint initiatives for the analysis of global media trends, increasing media literacy, and strategic communication.
Within the framework of the meeting, Kanat Iskakov, Deputy Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Maksat Mamytkanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Azerbaijan; Ferhat Pirinççi, Deputy Head of the Directorate of Communications of the Presidency of Türkiye; and Kobuljon Akhmedov, Director of the Content Production Center for Mass Media under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, Foreign Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, an observer member of the Organization, delivered speeches. They shared their countries' reforms in the media sector, steps taken towards digital transformation, and approaches to expanding cooperation within the Organization of Turkic States. The speakers emphasized the importance of organizing joint projects among member states, promoting the mutual use of information resources, deepening professional relations among media representatives, and increasing the exchange of experience in modern media technologies.
Within the framework of the meeting, priority areas of activity for the member states for the upcoming period were reviewed, and it was decided that the 8th meeting of ministers and high-ranking officials responsible for media and information of the Organization of Turkic States and the 13th meeting of the Working Group on Media and Information would be held in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
At the end of the 7th meeting of ministers and high-ranking officials responsible for media and information of the Organization of Turkic States, a Communiqué was adopted.
