Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, and Arzu Aliyeva visited the Khan Mosque during their visit to Shaki city.
During the visit, the mosque's imam, Vugar Mammadov, provided Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva with detailed information about the Khan Mosque complex. It was noted that the Shaki Khan Mosque, dating back to the 18th century, is one of the city's important religious-cultural and historical-architectural monuments. According to historical sources and inscriptions on the monument, the mosque was built by Haji Muhammadhuseyn Khan.
It was mentioned that restoration work at the historical Shaki Khan Mosque was carried out by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Additionally, a museum has been established on the territory of the mosque complex. The museum displays exhibits from the Shaki Khanate period and material culture samples collected from various sources.
The museum vividly demonstrates the history of the establishment and formation of the Shaki Khanate, as well as its special place in our national statehood history.
Finally, Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva were presented with a "Holy Quran".
