Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, drawing attention to the statements of European political leaders, declared that serious preparations for war against Russia are underway within NATO. He voiced these opinions at a press conference dedicated to the results of Russian diplomacy's activities for 2025.
According to Sergey Lavrov, the speeches of European leaders, including NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, as well as Kaja Kallas, Ursula von der Leyen, Mette Frederiksen, Keir Starmer, and Emmanuel Macron, clearly show their preparations for war against Russia, and these intentions are not being hidden. The minister stated that it is enough to read these statements to understand Europe's position.
Lavrov also explained Russia's approach to the Ukraine issue, noting that Moscow's position "in two words, is the importance of eliminating the initial causes of the crisis." According to him, the West has deliberately created conditions for years to turn Ukraine into a threat to Russia's security and has formed a platform against Russia near the country's borders.
The minister added that the regime that came to power as a result of a coup in 2014 and is openly pro-Nazi, with the encouragement of the West, has pursued a policy of destruction against the Russian language, Russian culture, education, media, as well as the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, both legislatively and physically. These factors, according to Lavrov, constitute the main root causes of the current crisis.
